The management and staff of the 17th Annual Pocono Blues Festival welcomes you to three days of world class blues. We are very proud of being nationally recognized as one of the top blues festivals in the world. Since 1992, we have showcased more than 325 national and international bands.
Blues fans from 30 states and 10 countries will be making their annual pilgrimage to the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania to witness 20 recording artists performing on 3 stages over 3 days on July 25, 26, and 27, 2008.
The Blues Music Awards (www.blues.org) will be held in Tunica, Mississippi paying tribute to many of the artists that are appearing
at this summer's Pocono Blues Festival. Bobby Rush (4 nominations), Lurrie Bell (3 nominations), Nappy Brown (2 nominations),
Eric Bibb (1 nomination), Ronnie Baker Brooks (1 nomination), Sharrie Williams (1 nomination), Root Doctor (1 nomination),
The Holmes Brothers (1 nomination), and Grammy Award Nominee Geno Delafose.
This year, our lineup consists of an eclectic mix of the full spectrum of the music, showcasing contemporary and traditional electric and acoustic blues, southern soul, rhythm and blues, gospel, and zydeco music.
We have had so many historic memories throughout the first 16 years. Do you remember Eddie Clearwater entering the festival on a white stallion in 1998, or Shemekia Copeland making her grand entrance to the stage on a Harley Davidson in 2002? Whether this is your first
Pocono Blues Festival or your 16th, it is our sincere hope that you enjoy every minute of your experience at the festival and the beautiful Pocono Mountains.
